Job Title: Residence Life Coordinator
Reports To: Director of Student Life
Status: Full time/ Regular/ Exempt
Salary: $40, 000-44,000 (DOE) annual plus benefits (see below)
SUMMARY:
This is a 12-month, professional live-in position. The Residence Life Coordinator creates opportunities for student development through the Residence Life Program. The Coordinator must have a strong understanding of human development and a commitment to being student focused. This position requires ongoing evening and weekend duties and responsibilities.
This position is responsible to organize and lead student development activities; train, education, support, oversee, and supervise RA staff; facilitate a sense of community amongst housing students; address interpersonal conflicts and safety concerns arising from student conduct issues; and manage the administrative operations of a residence facility under the direction and supervision of the Director of Student Life.
The Coordinator will help ensure a healthy and safe living environment for Tohono O’odham Community College students living in College provided housing on campus. The Coordinator is responsible for enforcing residential life policies and the College’s values (T-Wohocudadag – Our Beliefs, T-Apedag – Our Well-Being, T-Pi:k Elida – Our Deepest Respect and I-We:mta – Working Together) by guiding appropriate behavioral redirection when necessary and recommending to the Dean of Student Services student conduct issues for investigation and sanctions. In addition, the Coordinator will provide crisis response training and implementation whenever necessary, effectively manage residential common and personal living spaces to ensure high standards of cleanliness and safety.
The Residence Life Coordinator is a role model, facilitator, leader, and primary college representative while serving as an essential person in the experience and education of the College’s residential students. The Coordinator must enjoy living and working with college-aged students. The Coordinator is expected to provide student development workshops on a variety of topics, minimally including the following:
- Roommate Communication and Conflict Resolutions
- Safety and Emergency Response
- Living Independently 101
- Creating a Positive Living Environment
- Wellness and Self-Care
- Community Building Activities
- Healthy (and Safe!) Cooking
- Mid-term “Boot Camp”
- Fuel for Finals
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Mentor, advise, and provide crisis and emergency intervention and referrals for resident students;
- Inspects all resident facilities to ensure building security and guidelines are met and provide daily reports on condition of the residential facilities to Director of Student Life;
- Collaborate with TOCC Security to ensure safety of on-campus housing residents;
- Identify through the College’s School Dude reporting system maintenance issues as they arise in the on-campus housing facilities. Advocating for housing students when necessary for maintenance issues to be resolved promptly;
- Organize and regularly implement training and student development sessions for residents;
- Perform a variety of administrative duties including, but limited to, reports, room assignments, check-in/out procedures, occupancy management, and assessing damages and fines for occupants;
- Reviews and authorizes expenditures as needed to keep the residence in operating order and to ensure budgetary guidelines are followed;
- Participation on the campus safety committee and other committees;
- Serve as a resource for counseling wraparounds as requested;
- Help College coordinate resident excursions to Tucson for shopping or entertainment, provision of weekend foodstuffs when food operations close, and college-facilitated transportation for medical appointments and services on a case by case basis;
- Develop workshops and events geared towards supporting students living on campus;
- Perform other duties of a similar nature of level.
