Basic Function/Definition
Minimum Qualifications
OR
Any Associate degree AND six years of related professional experience
OR
A valid California Community College Credential authorizing service in the appropriate subject matter
OR
The equivalent.
AND
Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Equivalencies
For Police Science And/Or Corrections*: A combination of successfully completed coursework totaling at least six (6) units at the lower division level in the area in which the equivalency is requested; specifically a certified law enforcement basic academy program, PLUS evidence of at least three (3) years’ experience in a related career area, OR at least six (6) units at the lower division level in the area in which the equivalency is requested; specifically a certified law enforcement basic academy program, PLUS a specific POST certification in the area in which equivalency is requested.
*Pertains to training and educational programs certified for presentation by the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST).
Responsibilities
Have a commitment to professional excellence and continuous growth in the fields of teaching.
Other professional responsibilities and activities normally expected of members of community college faculty as described by Board Policies and the California Education code.
Foreign Degrees
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
