Redlands provides email notifications to all students, faculty and staff when a Clery Crime occurs in or near Redlands Community College campus or any of its sites. These notifications are primarily sent if the incident poses an ongoing safety threat as determined by the President of the College or his designee. The act requires colleges and universities to make “timely warnings,” known as “Safety Alerts” at Redlands, to campus community members about specific types of crime if an ongoing threat is believed to exist.

Full-time position(s)

Redlands Community College is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Academic Advisor/Student Engagement Specialist for out Title IV Student Services (SSS) Grant. This is a full-time position for a federally funded grant program, reporting to the SSS Project Director. The salary for this position is $42,000 per year with excellent benefits. This individual will be responsible for providing quality academic advising and coaching for program participants. Responsibilities include: Short-term and long-term planning, such as semester enrollment, course recommendations for future semesters, and advisement on transferring to a bachelor’s degree program; plan and implement student engagement activities (workshops, seminars, cultural experiences and events) to provide academic and social support to a targeted student population facing barriers in completing their degree; and track students’ academic progress and provide interventions when needed, with the goal of increasing retention and graduation rates for participants. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required; a minimum of 2 years’ experience in providing support services to college students from disadvantaged backgrounds and/or students traditionally underrepresented in higher education (preferably in community colleges); knowledge of occupational, career and academic assessment instruments; strong communication and organizational skills; proficiency with computer databases; documented experience in presenting workshops, seminars, small group and individual discussions, and orientation sessions; knowledge of college financial aid programs and application procedures; experience in providing academic counseling, career counseling and disability accommodations for college students; demonstrated ability to work with disadvantaged, at-risk and traditionally under-represented student populations; and a background similar to that of SSS participants. The ability to work with offices specifically designed to providing student services such as Financial Aid, Bursar’s, Admissions and Advising, Registrar’s, Foundation and athletics, as well as faculty, are crucial to the success of this position. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree is preferred; knowledge of Financial Aid including FAFSA completion, grants, loans and scholarships. To apply: Interested applicants are required to apply on-line and submit a cover letter, resume, copies of college transcripts, and a list of three references with names, addresses and phone numbers.
