Are you passionate about helping others and ensuring a positive employee experience? Viterbo University is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources team. In this part-time role, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our employee benefits programs, supporting the well-being and satisfaction of our staff. If you have a passion for benefits administration and enjoy delivering excellent customer service, this is the role for you! You'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact while balancing a part-time work schedule of 20-25 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Benefits Administration:
- Oversee and support a wide range of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, tuition remission, and 403(b) plans.
- Provide prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly assistance to employees with their benefits inquiries.
- Collaborate with management and plan providers on the annual renewal process.
- Communicate plan design changes clearly and effectively to employees.
- Organize and lead engaging open enrollment meetings to guide employees through their benefits options.
- Process open enrollment changes accurately and efficiently.
- Partner with campus leaders to continuously research and enhance our benefits package to stay competitive.
- HR Data Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee data in HR systems.
- Process and submit all HR data transactions related to employment, including new hires, job changes, pay changes, and terminations.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Assist with other HR-related tasks as needed, such as employment verifications and coordinating reasonable accommodations and leaves of absence.
General Requirements/Qualifications:
- Required:
- Associate's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Two years of experience in HR benefits administration.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
- Skills:
- Exceptional customer service
- Ability to maintain sensitive/ confidential information
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable leave laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- High level of attention to details and accuracy.
