Job Summary
Receives, stores and distributes materials, tools, and equipment within the warehouse. Operates material handling equipment to stow or issue materials. Conducts inventory of materials. Fills pick tickets or requests for materials from workers or vendors. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position.
Qualification Standards
Must have experience in stockroom/warehouse environment, including receiving, stocking, issuing materials and CRT experience. Knowledge of computerized inventory and material control systems necessary. Must have ability to operate forklift, order picker, turret lift and accurate accounting skills; NASSCO Forklift certification required. Must have the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and be available to work any shift. Must comprehend written and verbal instructions and hear warning signals, read and comprehend safety instructions, regulations and warnings.
Essential Job Tasks
- Receive materials from outside vendors
- Identify tags, records and retrieve materials to be used, stocked or issued
- Operate material handling equipment to stow or issue material, equipment or supplies
- Conduct inventory manually or electronically
- Communicate with vendors and workers in person, in writing and by telephone
- Perform warehouse maintenance
- Other tasks as may be assigned relevant to the trade
Materials, Tools Equipment, Work Aids
Fork lift, order picker, turret lift, pallet jack, pushcart, electric cart, stand-up lift, rolling ladder, regular ladder, computer terminal, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and cleaning equipment. Personal protective equipment required.
Physical/Mental Involvement
Frequent lifting up 60 lbs without the assistance of manual material handling equipment. Certain items lifted may be over a ton, and appropriate equipment or cranes will be used to lift such equipment. Frequent carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, kneeling, climbing ladders or equipment, balancing, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual and finger dexterity, seeing and hearing depth perception. Works in all areas of the shipyard and on board ships. Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions. Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee's work area.

Housekeeping in all work areas, including sweeping. May be required to attend safety quality and/or process improvement meetings.
Environmental Factors
Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, various climates and temperatures, and low ventilation conditions, all of which can cause discomfort and/or respiratory difficulties. Exposure to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts. High levels of constant noise and dust may be present depending on the location of the individual warehouse or storage site.
Payscale:
$24.20 - $26.20
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the hourly range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
