Specific Position Duties
The Social Services Coordinator is a critical member of the college’s student support and behavioral intervention teams while providing services to help college students attain maximum benefits from campus and community programs. Responsibilities include intake assessment and crisis intervention; individual and group counseling as appropriate; as well as development of prevention and outreach programming. The college social worker will assist students with eligibility determination for social programs and funding sources, and qualifying for community assistance. The college social worker will support students’ academic and personal growth.

- Provide case management services to students who have been identified as having barriers to learning
- Identify, assist and advocate for students with barriers that affect with learning and student success
- Establish resource referrals designed to assist students and facilitate success and provide referrals to agencies to provide wrap around service for students
- Conduct student assessments to facilitate improvement of social, emotional behavioral and academic success
- Develop, design and recommend student interventions that contribute to student success including emotional support, crisis counseling; mental health, financial assistance and substance abuse interventions
- Facilitate crisis response and follow up interventions including counseling and referrals to appropriate providers.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely records
- Safeguard the privacy and confidentiality of information as required by law
- Empower students and families to gain access to and effectively utilize campus and community resources
- Serve as a liaison with community agencies and create a resource guide for internal use and for students Respond to Behavioral Intervention reports regarding but not limited to social services and mental health needs Ability to create presentations and deliver public speaking engagements to employees and students Assist in running the Wrangler Food Pantry and providing food to students
- Assist in the Pantry Gardens
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or relevant field
- Knowledge of social services and programs designed to meet mental health, physical health, academic and social service needs of students
- Knowledge of state, local and federal laws impacting students
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
- Ability to effectively work with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to lift 30 – 50 pounds.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Master Degree in Social Work, or related counseling field with a current Texas license as either a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker-Advanced Practitioner (LMSW-AP).
