Under the direction of the Psychology Applied Research Center's Director and senior team members (Drs. Villanueva, Terry, Rej, De La Cruz Toledo He), the successful candidate will serve as a post doctoral fellow on the evaluation of The Los Angeles Mayor's Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) Summer Night Lights (SNL) and the California Reducing Disparities Project Phase 2 Extension Statewide Evaluation.

 

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

 

The Postdoctoral Fellow is a member who is appointed for a fixed-term period (i.e., 1 to 2 years) to pursue advanced training by assisting the center in specific research project(s) through:

¢ Co-leading data collection efforts and analysis of center primary and secondary datasets;

¢ Assisting with preparing presentations, technical reports, and briefs;

¢ Co-leading evaluation technical assistance and training with center community partners;

¢ Participating in training of research assistants and students as needed;

¢ Assisting with preparation of IRB applications;

¢ Developing 1 manuscript for publication based on center project findings;

¢ Working closely with executive and technical leadership team on center projects;

¢ Assisting with data collection efforts with community partners and other key stakeholders;

¢ Supervising and mentoring research support team members and students;

¢ Performing other research-related duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

¢ Typically a Ph.D. or doctoral candidate in psychology, the social sciences, or a related field or equivalent experience.

¢ Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.

¢ Minimum 2 years of research experience.

¢ Interest in and/or some research experience with CBPR and/or applied research relevant to center projects (e.g., health or mental health equity; environmental, systems and policy change; substance abuse prevention; etc.).

¢ Commitment to developing cultural intelligence (i.e., knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds).

¢ Strong work ethic and evidence of ability to conduct both independent and collaborative research with senior researchers, research assistants, and/or university students.

¢ Ability to design, organize, and implement specialized and/or advanced research methods or protocols.

¢ Ability to conduct advanced quantitative data analyses using SPSS, STATA or R and/or qualitative data analyses using Dedoose, NViVo, Atlas.Ti or other qualitative software.

¢Experience with developing user-friendly, engaging presentations and research tools using Powerpoint, CANVA, Mentimeter, Qualtrics, etc.

¢ Experience with developing Excel databases using complex formulas and functions.

¢ Strong organizational skills and a track record of working collaboratively with others in professional or extracurricular settings.

¢ High intrinsic motivation and excellent self-management. Ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision.

Staff Term (Fixed Term)

 

Salary range

$66,560.00 - $75,200.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
