Position Summary
The Director of Gift Planning ("DGP") leads, develops, implements, and coordinates all phases of the Gift Planning Program within their assigned Divisional coverage area to achieve the goals set for identifying and establishing gift commitments.

Essential Functions
A DGP is responsible for identifying, cultivating, finalizing, and stewarding gift plan commitments. This will be achieved through management, marketing, metrics, and training activities.

Management
* A DGP is responsible for all gift planning activities within their assigned coverage area.
* Maintain and build relationships with all appropriate Corps Officers and staff in their area.
* Maintain personal responsibility for 75 - 150 existing life income donors.
* Maintain annual stewardship for all living bequest donors within your area.
* Maintain and build relationships with professionals such as, CPAs, CFPs, and Attorneys.
* Collaborate with Corps Officers, Donor Relations Directors (Major Gifts) and Development staff to provide donors with exceptional service and collaborate with site/donor visits.
Metrics
* Achieve minimum work product metrics as identified by the Sr. Gift Planning Leadership team.
* Make a minimum of five (5) strategic/substantive face-to-face visits per month (donor, prospect, or advisor visits).
* Create and present a minimum of two (2) gift planning proposals per week.
* Meet with all Corps Officers a minimum of two (2) times per year.
* Schedule one (1) joint DRD - donor meeting per month.
* Schedule one (1) joint Corps Officer - donor meeting per quarter.
* Achieving these work product metrics will produce the following:
a. Year 1: Identify or close twenty-four (24) plus gifts per year valued between $2.5M-$5M.
b. Year 2+: Identify or close fifty (50) plus gifts per year valued between $5M-$10M.

* Promote, organize, and participate in a minimum of (1) donor or advisor seminar per year.
* Report all communication activities in our CRM and report all gift production in the Gift Report module.
Marketing
* Complete and update a multi-channel Forecast and Marketing Plan (FMP) annually based on the template provided by Territorial Headquarters.
* Annually submit your FMP to the THQ GP Office for integration into the THQ GP marketing budget.
* Personally manage or utilize staff assistance to operate your marketing activities throughout the year based on your FMP.

Training
* Participate in the monthly DGP Training call.
* Participate in the annual twelve (12) week training session.
* Participate in an annual technical training conference and kindred sessions.
* Participate in all Territorial and Mentor scheduled training sessions.

Other
* Work within the established framework, policies and organization of the Division and Territory. To accomplish this, s/he will:
o Conduct activities within the framework of the territorial gift acceptance policies.
o Adhere to all territorial standards and policies regarding the gift planning program.
o Work closely with the Territorial Director of Gift Planning (TDGP) in the development and closing of complex gift planning arrangements.
o Refrain from signing any legal commitments on behalf of The Salvation Army.
o Refrain from any personal gain because of donor contacts. Accept no gratuities or gifts and allow no bequest or remainder interest to be designated to the individual representing The Salvation Army.
o Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelors (required)

Experience
Proven ability to assist donors in moving forward with closing gift plans at the six and seven figure level. (required)
Possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records. (required)
Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and has ability to learn CRM and application software readily (required)
