This position manages purchasing for the department, screens correspondence for POLT and IA,ensures that faculty teaching evaluations are administered and compiled for Political Science and International Affairs, uses internal student files and centralized reporting systems (Degreeworks, WEBI, Banner) to ensure the accuracy of student audit reports for minor certifications, updates Political Science and International Affairs websites as needed, manages POLT and IA graduate and undergraduate catalogue submissions, provides administrative support for regular department and program meetings, manages use of department rooms, assists with student participation in the Undergraduate and Graduate Research Conferences, creates and distribute marketing materials for Department and program courses and events, and sign minor completion forms as needed.
Duty/Responsibility
Assist the Chair, Program Director and Scheduling Committee with scheduling of all undergraduate and graduate courses, and serve as liason for securing classrooms. This requires collaboration with Dean’s Office, Registrar, and Facilities. Also manages student course access and course overrides/department approvals, and updates the IA program elective list each semester.

The position will assist Chair and Director with budget oversight and management, including processing reimbursements and honoraria requests; support the POLT Chair and IA Director with report preparation as needed, including annual reports; and effectively use university platforms to compile data as needed.

This position helps with administrative support to the MA program, including processing preapplications, TOEFL and GRE waiver requests, assisting graduate faculty committee members with applications, GA and scholarship decisions, maintaining digital and paper files, and identifying and cross-listing MA elective courses.

This position is the central hub/first point of contact for prospective and current students in the IA program. The staff person welcomes students and others to the department, respond to queries, and direct students and others to appropriate department contact person (in person and by phone). He/she also represents the Department and Program at open house and outreach events, and manages International Affairs and Political Science major and minor distribution lists, conducts Intake and administrative advising for prospective and current International Affairs students
The staff members works with IA Director to organize and conduct the IA Dual Major graduation event and senior luncheon and with the POLT Chair on the graduation ceremonies. The staff person further communicates important information and announcements to Political Science and IA Students; distributes job opportunities from alumni and external sources to students and fellow alumni via social media, LinkedIn, and direct email; and manages social media for POLT and IA (e.g., LinkedIn group of IA alumni, POLT FB page, etc.).

This position support all aspects of the P&T Process. This includes managing correspondence with letter writers and reviewers; maintaining filing system; compiling records, soliciting external review letters; managing confidential documents in a shared digital storage space.

Depending upon time available, this staff member provides administrative support to faculty coordinators and student outreach to minors run by POLT and IA, including the IA Minor, the Survey Minor and the Security Studies Minor, the Concord Internship Program, and the New Hampshire International Seminars in cooperation with the Global Education Center. This position is also responsible for assisting with new faculty onboarding as needed, including providing office, keys, IT access, and copier codes and serves as a resource for faculty regarding UNH procedures and programs.

This position reports building maintenance needs to facilities via FAMIS system, coordinates routine cleaning of kitchen and shared spaces in the Department, informs registrar’s office and other UNH units of needed repairs to classroom furniture, AV technology, and climate controls.
