Brief Description of Job:

Lincoln Land Community College’s Youth Program provides enrichment opportunities for area youth throughout the year, including summer. Students are typically instructed in age groups: those who will be or who are attending 1st-3rd grades, those who will be or who are attending 4th-6th grades, middle school, and high school. Courses are taught by motivated instructors who encourage and challenge students in an atmosphere that
supports inquiry and exploration, including minimal lectures, group discussions, and hands-on activities.
Each year, our classes are determined by the ideas and proposals submitted by instructors. It is the perfect time to share topics or subjects that you enjoy and to explore areas of study and interest in a non-graded, fun-filled environment. This position provides flexibility in both what you want to teach and when you want to teach it.

Essential Job Responsibilities:·
  • Maintain a safe, positive and innovative learning environment meeting the needs of all students.
  • Manage student behavior in the learning environment and report any issues to the Youth Enrichment Services Coordinator.
  • Communicate with the Youth Enrichment Services Coordinator about attendance.
  • Select instructional materials to meet student needs and submit materials list to the Youth Enrichment Services Coordinator for purchasing,
  • Assume responsibility for the care of materials, supplies, equipment and facilities.
  • Submit HR paperwork, supply lists, and lesson plans by established deadlines.
  • Attend mandatory Staff Orientation.
  • Comply with department and college policies and procedures.

Instructors are paid $28 per hour for instructional time. Our program will provide supplies. Work schedule will depend on student enrollment.

Position Requirements

  • Demonstrated passion and proficiency in the proposed subject area.
  • Prior experience working with youth learners is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Professional attitude and the ability to work with others.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
