Salary Information
Starting salary: $91,379 – $107,505
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The starting salary range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Summary
The Director will oversee operation and ensure success of the Recreation and Wellness function and the Trail Point Aquatics and Wellness Center. Responsible for leadership, development and administration of operational plan, budget, facility, program, staff, and services. Duties include supervision of staff, strategic planning, new program development, financial and membership reporting, and continuous improvement of facilities and services.

Essential Functions
Supervise departmental staff, recommend personnel actions related to hiring, compensation, performance evaluations, training, leaves, discipline, grievances, work schedules, and assignments, administers personnel and related policies and procedures per collective bargaining agreements and EEO/AA plan.

Oversee implementation, maintenance and evaluation of TPAW Center programs and membership activities, engage with community for alignment of services, and oversee the district-wide Recreation and Wellness function. Provide leadership to program launches and new program development. Continuously measures effectiveness and improves current programs such as aquatics, fitness and wellness, youth and family, childcare and membership development.

Oversee management of the TPAW Center including two pools with related equipment, certifications, and supplies, two gymnasiums, fitness rooms, weight training and cardiovascular areas, childcare and family spaces, physical therapy suite, multiple locker rooms and administrative offices. Responsible for regular inspection and maintenance of the TPAW Center to guarantee high standards of maintenance, safety, and cleanliness and assure that requirements of codes and laws are met fully. Perform risk management functions for TPAW Center by conducting facility audits including life-safety, mechanical, structural-architectural, electrical equipment, furnishings, and technology.

Develop, recommend, implement, and administer annual budget for the TPAW Center. Review and approve all departmental expenditures to ensure compliance with the approved budget. Coordinate procurement of necessary equipment and materials.

Establish and recruit members for the TPAW Advisory Board. Facilitate meetings, build support, and act on directives. Oversee and facilitate connections to multiple recreation and wellness related DMACC academic programs. Establish TPAW as a student employment center and create opportunities for DMACC student employment and internships.

Create and maintain successful and strategic relationships with business and civic leaders, members, and organizations of the community, and area schools, with the purpose of leveraging those relationships to enhance support and advocacy for TPAW. Serve as main point of contact for TPAW by presenting to service clubs, churches, schools and participating in community activities and events.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Health and Wellness, Business or other related areas (an Associate degree in a related area and two additional years of experience may substitute for Bachelor’s degree).
Five years successful operations management and supervisory experience in a multi-program recreation/fitness facility or similar community-based organization.
Demonstrated competency in strategic planning and implementation.
Demonstrated competence in budget planning, management, and meeting fiscal goals.
Demonstrated ability to develop strong, positive relationships with community advisory boards, business, and civic leaders, and provide dynamic leadership to staff, community, and volunteers.
Strong communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications.

Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Recreation Management, Health and Wellness, Business, or other related areas.
Experience in operations and management of swimming pools and aquatics programming.
Experience in operating a membership-based fitness/wellness facility.

    • Lift up to 105 lbs from Floor to Knuckle (19 height)

    • Squatting, Bending, Ability to be Mobile & Standing
