Full job description
POSITION: Part-Time Librarian I; Librarian I; Library Services; (Haverhill Campus); 22.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9:30AM-2PM; AFSCME Unit I
SUMMARY: Librarian I employees classify and catalog books and other library materials; order new books and materials needed for the collection; aid library users in utilizing facilities; participate in the development of library policy; maintain files and records; and perform related work as required. Although this position is primarily based on the Haverhill campus, candidates should expect to work on the college's Lawrence campus periodically.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Orders, processes, and catalogs library materials for Haverhill and Lawrence campus libraries.
- Maintains print and digital files and records related to the acquisition of library materials.
- Records the arrival of periodicals into the collections.
- Updates and maintains course reserves collection.
- Staffs public service desk and aids community members in the use of library materials.
- Performs duties related to the processing of payments and invoices for library materials.
- Serves as Technical Services liaison for HELM/FLO consortia.
- May define the activities of a volunteer in support of the library's relationship with Opportunity Works.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with an ILS, copy cataloging, creating, and editing item records
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques of processing and repairing books and other library materials.
- Experience building and maintaining spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, including formulas.
- Demonstrated ability to provide positive customer service experiences for a diverse community.
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written expression.
- Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population
BACKGROUND CHECK: Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment.
Additional Information:
SALARY: $1,245.46 - $1,765.65 ($32,382.01 to $45,906.90 annually). Pay grade 16; An appointment from outside the bargaining unit (AFSCME) must start at Step I of the range.
