We have an excellent opportunity for a Community Impact Director within our Puget Sound division based in Seattle, WA. This is a home/field based position that involves regular work performed from remote locations throughout Pierce, King and Snohomish counties primarily and some throughout Washington State for business meetings and events.
Under broad supervision, drive strategies and implementation of health impact goals with a focus on hypertension and other chronic conditions and tobacco prevention in youth, with team collaboration on other American Heart Association impact priorities to include nutrition security and CPR. Collaborate with community partners, including community health centers, health care providers, and community-based organizations to drive sustainable changes to systems, policies, and environments that improve health. Facilitate, in collaboration with fundraising staff and volunteers, projects that align with our health impact goals and revenue tactics, such as fulfilling community and worksite requests for health information. Drive ambulatory health goals by cultivating year-round relationships with community health centers and primary care clinics and securing participation in the Association recognition programs.

Responsibilities
- Effectively build a network of meaningful volunteer and partner relationships to create a sustainable culture of health within our community. Proactively lead and identify, recruit, orient and retain volunteers consisting of health care providers, students, senior level executives and community leaders within the market to drive the overall community health work. Work with supervisor to support engagement and involvement of the Division's Board of Directors. Accountable for the organization and management of volunteers.
- Serve as a catalyst and convener with coalitions that build health equity and help American Heart Association achieve policy, system and environment changes toward our impact goals.
- Drive direct health impact via targeted strategic community alliances (i.e., faith-based institutions, FQHCs, community centers etc.) and corporate relationships (i.e., Top 25 Companies, sponsors, etc.)
- Collaborate with advocacy to accomplish local public policy changes that will drive to the reduction of health disparities in diverse audiences.
- Successfully build and implement a cross-functional hypertension and cholesterol control strategy (high blood pressure management, cholesterol and healthy behavior initiatives) and youth tobacco and vaping prevention strategy in the market with strong integration of Health Strategies and Development.
- Articulate the CVD health problem in and across communities and what American Heart Association is doing to address the problem within the community. Assists with educating all staff in the market with the ability to talk about what the American Heart Association is doing to reach diverse audiences within said community.
- Work collaboratively with development staff partners and volunteers to identify, cultivate and secure prospective sponsors for relevant campaigns, driving to specific sponsorship goal with development team. Support the achievement of the unrestricted field campaign through health asset sponsorships/activations and other means.
- Manage activation of market sponsorships and grants that drive health impact through the impact channels of hypertension, diabetes, tobacco, and CPR.
Qualifications
Three (3) years of experience with:
- Progressive experience in public health, community health or equivalent.
- Proven ability to recruit, mobilize and manage volunteers, including C-suite level executives.
- Demonstrated ability to drive toward and achieve results.
- Effectively manage relationships with the ability to gain trust and demonstrate influence without authority.
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
- Experience or comfort-level within clinical settings, especially within primary care.
- Knowledge of corporate and community networks, especially those serving historically marginalized communities.
- Knowledge of American Heart Association's mission and programs.
- Demonstrated success in developing proposals and securing of sponsorships, major gifts and foundations funding.
- Ability to do daily local travel; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
Compensation & Benefits
Expected pay range will be $71,880 to $86,300 annually. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
