Job Description
Full job description
Part-time (Adjunct) CHEMISTRY Instructor needed for DAYTIME AND EVENING Classes
Classes begin August 26, 2024.
Principles of Chemistry (CHE 120) introduces students to the basic concepts and principles of chemistry. It is suitable for students who have had little, if any, instruction in chemistry. Topics include measurement and unit conversions, physical and chemical properties, states of matter and energy, atomic structure, chemical periodicity, chemical nomenclature, chemical bonds, Lewis structures and molecular shapes, chemical reactions, the mole concept and stoichiometry, properties of gases, acid–base solutions and the pH concept. The course provides an integrated lecture and laboratory experience.
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or higher in Chemistry or a related discipline. College-level teaching experience is preferred. Classes are on-site.
Chemistry I (CHE 150) is the first of a two-semester inorganic chemistry sequence. Most students taking this course have had previous exposure to abstract physical science. This course covers fundamental principles and laws of chemistry. The significant topics of discussion include a review of basic chemical principles and measurement, atomic structure, chemical reactions and equations, formula calculations, and stoichiometry, heats of reaction, calorimetry, Hess’s Law, gas laws, atomic and molecular theory, structure and chemical bonding using VSEPR Theory, states of matter (gases, liquids, solids), thermochemistry, and solutions. The laboratory component reinforces the general chemistry theories and principles introduced and emphasized in lectures.
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree or higher in Chemistry or a related discipline. College-level teaching experience is preferred. Classes are on-site.
