Temporary Human Resources Coordinator - Hybrid
Job Description
The temporary employee will serve on the administrative operations team in the Medical Social Sciences (MSS) department, with responsibility for managing HR processes and operations within MSS.
Key responsibilities for this position include managing all aspects of creating, backfilling, and terminating positions; communicating HR policies to and answering questions from hiring managers; facilitating reappointments, temporary appointments, and FTE changes; guiding hiring managers through reference checks and position offers; hiring volunteers/interns; overseeing administrative onboarding and offboarding for employees including communicating with team members who own pieces of this process; partnering with the Office of International Students and Scholars on visa requests and renewals; updating the payroll tracker with information related to new hires and terminations; partnering with the HR office on I-9 authorizations and processing; serving as the department’s NetID coordinator; answering questions about MSS and NU HR policies and practices; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
The ideal candidate has experience working in HR and is strongly proficient with HR issues and standard policies/practices; is highly organized and detail-oriented; has impeccable follow-through, takes initiative and is highly proactive; enjoys working on a team and is also able to work independently; has strong written and oral communication skills; has good judgement; can handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and tact; handles pressure with grace; works successfully with people across all levels of the department (senior leaders to entry-level); and is excited to support a growing and dynamic department whose mission is to leverage the power of social science to create and apply innovations that improve the health of our community and our society equitably.
Software Required:
MS Office suite 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
